The Fault In Our Stars Reviews - Book Review

 Photo found at this address.
Photo found at this link.

I, like nearly every teenager out there, has fallen in love with The Fault In Our Stars. I started reading in Saturday's morning and stayed up until 3am to finish the masterpiece. I know it's cliché times a million but it's true, I couldn't put the book down. I constantly found myself in wonder of how thoughtfully clever it was written (John Green truly is a genius). To be able to write something so beautiful is something so rare these days. The thing is we don't lack the quantity, there are millions of books available at the click of a finger, we lack quality, and John Green really does redeem that reputation.

The Fault In Our Stars, as I'm sure the world is aware, is the story of Hazel, Hazel Grace Lancaster. She has long been diagnosed with cancer and as she often quotes, she's never been anything but terminal. She goes along to a support group just to please her suffering parents. At this usually dull meeting, she quite literally bumps into Augustus Waters, a boy in similar age to her who's in remission. The book is a tale of their whirlwind love and that nothing lasts forever.

As deep and downright depressing as this book may sound, it couldn't have been further from it. I found it completely uplifting and positively thought-provoking. This book really does remind you that no matter how bad things may be there is always a speck of light, and that however big or small it is, it is always there.

I can proudly say I have read this book and to say I enjoyed it would be a poor understatement. The Fault In Our Stars isn't just a novel, it is a philosophy, a lesson and one that I think everyone should take.

In honour of this honestly breathtaking read, I have picked out what I thought to be the most powerful quotes:

"It's a metaphor, see; You put the killing thing right between your teeth, but you don't give it the power to do its killing."

"That's the thing about pain...it demands to be felt."

"Okay. Maybe okay will be our always.
Okay."

"I'm a grenade and at some point I'm going to blow up."

"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in the stars, but in ourselves."

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once."

"In freedom, most people find sin."

"It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you."

and many more that are so completely true I want to cry!

Enjoy this post and the next to come in the reviews - the film review.

Girl Crush Alert - Blake Lively

Girl Crush Alert!

Look, I know I'm so incredibly late to the pass but I recently started beginning Gossip Girl. Why didn't I listen when people told me I was missing out! The scandalous series has become my new obsessive and as per usual, along with this came a complete girl crush on Blake Lively! Well, what can you expect. She is talented, gorgeous and Ryan Reynolds' equally model-like other half. (Oh, and she is tres tres fashionable.)

I think her amazing outfits in Cannes made me realise quite the extent of her amazingness! She debuted Chanel, Gucci and Giambattista Valli Couture which would even make Blair Wardorf's chops drop and made not only the outfits, but also herself look like pieces of art.

So hats of to Blake. She's got the brains, the beauty and the beau, and she's doing it all in style.

Awards Season's Leading Ladies

This award season, the frocks haven't been for the faint hearted. Some have oozed elegance and sophistication whilst others have been different and fun. Though, like always some have been downright awful. Simply fashion don'ts. And while this year has had a mix of both, there has been two people who have savily shone out of the mass of celebs and glamazons. Allison Williams and Lupita Nyong'o. Take a look at my favourite two looks of theirs from this season!

Allison

Allison looks gorgeous in both of these completely different looks. In the first one, she is wearing a two-toned, tuxedo neck dress by the late L'Wren Scott. She has acessorized the beautiful dress with simple black courts and a black clutch. She looks every part the Hollywood actress.

In the second look, Allison is wearing a great design by fellow Brit, Emilia Wickstead. Emilia's collection has been well showcased this year with many models of the range including Caitlin Fitzgerald who featured on my Golden Globes Lowdown (Click here for a link). The candy pink really pops and doesn't drown her figure. She looks extremely sophisticated with a slick-back do and earrings.

Lupita

Lupita really has worn the world to this season. In this Chanel Couture dress and jacket combo, she looks every bit elegant. It's light pink shade goes well with her white clutch and really highlights the whiteness of her teeth and eyes.

In this STUHNING Dior Couture gown, Lupita really has hit the fashion jackpot. The beautiful emerald shade contrasts well against her skin tone, whilst the matching gold belt and cuffs tie the whole outfit together. I love the trailing skirt and pleated hem. I'd probably say this was my favourite outfit of award season. Well done!

Thank you for reading and sorry it's sooo late. All pictures are from the Vogue UK app, (featured in my recent fashion app blog post), for Apple and Android products. I look forward to seeing more wonderful outfits from both gorgeous girls! Happy Easter!

The real abbreviations...

No one speaks properly these days. It's BTW this and FYI that. Text language has turned into a whole new language itself, one many people don't get (me included at times...). But really they're all just a word to represent an action, and they have to start with a hashtag, #whatevs. These are my translations:

YOLO- 'You Only Live Once'
an excuse to do anything you want, be it eating an extra scoop of ice cream or getting arrested. Original.

Examples
"Sneaking some chocolate out of the fridge #YOLO"
"Robbing a bank #YOLO"

LOL- 'Laugh Out Loud'
don't know many people that only laugh in their head.

Examples:
"Watching Celebrity Juice #LOL"
"Got told by my Mum #LOL"

BRT- 'Be Right There'
I'm late but I'm saying I'm nearly there but really I just woke up and can't be bothered to tell the person the truth.

Examples:
"You're at Costa? #BRT"
"Round the corner #BRT"

DIY- 'Do It Yourself'
Stop being lazy and ordering stuff online from IKEA and then getting a handyman to put it all together. Get off your bum and make yourself useful.

Examples:
"Changed the plug! #DIY"
"Fixed up my drawers #DIY"

I hope you can put up with my extreme sarcasm and see what these things really mean:).

Golden Globes 2014: Outfits Lowdown

Happy New Year! And may there be many more dresses to buy and many more admire...whether that's a good thing or a bad thing! Anyway, as we all know, the Golden Globes 2014 were hosted only a few days ago. It just wouldn't be fair for us to sit here without us having to look at some amazing dresses! So here goes 2014's first does of fancy couture!

Sosie Bacon in Rhea Costa
To be honest, before today I didn't even know who Sosie Bacon was. Well, I might not know anything about her but all I can tell you is that if this is any sign, then she can dress very well!

Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen
She never seizes to not look fabulous does she! She has chosen the perfect dress to accentuate her waste and make her look fabulously curvy with Golden Globe glamour!

Caitlin Fitzgerald in Emilia Wickstead
What an amazing dress! The style and colour match perfectly. Her accessories are perfect and I love the complimentary orange lippy!

Michelle Doherty in Oscar de la Renta
As ever, Michelle Dockery looks fabulously elegant. She looks absolutely amazing and knows how to dress like a proper lady. Hats off to her!

Rashida Jones in Fausto Pauglisti
What a great outfit! In no way is it really extravagant, simple but perfect and it's refreshing to see on the red carpet. Love the look.

Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta
I love this outfit. Zooey looks amazing in this beautiful ensemble. I love the detail and the gentle rose colour. To live for!

Emma Watson in Dior Couture
Emma Watson knows just how to dress immaculately. I haven't seen her get it wrong in a long time! She makes the look fresh with the electric blue heels and skin-tight leggings.
