Fashion Designers A-Z

Now...I had to be a bit lenient with this. Who would have known the difficulties in finding a varied and in-depth range of designers? Well, I hope this gives you a good guide!




A is for Giorgio Armani

- Italian, 79 years old, known for his clean and tailored cuts.

B is for Cristobal Balenciaga
- Spanish, died in 1972 (aged 77), Balenciaga is now under the direction of Alexander Wang.

C is for Coco Chanel
- French, died in 1971 (aged 87), her signature scent, Chanel No.5, is now an iconic product.

D is for Christian Dior
- French, died in 1957 (aged 52), he founded Dior on the 8th December 1946.

E is for Elizabeth Emanuel
- British, 60 years old, known for designing Princess Diana's wedding dress.

F is for Diane Von Furstenburg
- Belgian, 66 years old, best known for her iconic wrap dress.

G is for John Galliano
- Gibaltarian, 52-53 years old, he was sacked from Dior after his controversial Anti-Semitic speech.

H is for Carolina Herrara
- Venezuelan, 74 years old, she is known for her exceptional personal style.

I is for Roksanda Ilincic
- Serbian, 42-43 years old, known for her elegant day and evening dresses.

J is for Marc Jacobs
- American, 40 years old, he was creative director of Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2013.

K is for Mary Katrantzou
- Greek, 29-30 years old, her collaboration with Longchamp was one of their most successful.

L is for Karl Lagerfeld
- German, 80 years old, he's recognised for his trademark white hair, black glasses and high collars.

M is for Martin Margiela
- Belgian, 56 years old, throughout his career he's kept a low personal profile, never having his picture taken.

N is for Richard Nicoll
- British, 35-36 years old, he's best known for his modernist classics with their day-to-night versatility.

O is for Massimo Osti
- Italian, died in 2005 (aged 59), is known for creating brands Stone Island and C.P Company.

P is for Emilio Pucci
- Italian, died in 1992 (aged 78), known for his geometric prints.

Q is for Mary Quant
- Welsh, 79 years old, the creator of the miniskirt and hot pants.

R is for Oscar de la Renta
- Dominican, 81 years old, he became internationally known in the 60's for dressing Jackie Kennedy.

S is for Elie Saab
- Lebanese, 49 years old, he's known for his lengthy record of dressing royals.

T is for Alice Temperley
- British, 38 years old, her collaboration with John Lewis was their quickest selling collection in their history.

U is for United Colours of Benetton
- Italian, founded in 1965 by the Benetton family. They have 6500 stores in over 120 countries.

V is for Gianni Versace
- Italian, died in 1997 (aged 50), he was shot dead outside his home...there was never a justified reason.

W is for Vivienne Westwood
- British, 72 years old, best known for her influence of modern punk and new wave fashions.

X is for ........
- I don't know. I'm sorry. Do you have any ideas?

Y is for Yves Saint Laurent
- French, died in 2008 (aged 71), he's credited for the women's tuxedo.

Z is for Zac Posen
- American, 33 years old, he got his big break in 2000.
